TN announces interest-free co-operative crop loans

Presenting the budget for 2009-10, Tamil Nadu Finance Minister, Mr K. Anbazhagan  announced  interest free co-operative crop loans to farmers. He said that the State Government has targeted disbursal of Rs 2,000 crore towards crop loan during the year. The Government has decided not to charge interest on co-operative crop loans to farmers who stick to the schedule of repayment. A provision of Rs 140 crore has been made to compensate the co-operative banks for the interest component.
