*INDIAN FARMERS & INDUSTRY ALLIANCE (IFIA)

History >

Indian Farmers & Industry Alliance (IFIA) was set up for empowering farmers through partnership. It is a joint venture between Federation of Farmers Associations and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) which is India’s leading Apex Industry Association. Its objectives are identifying important issues for agriculture development, welfare of farmers, growth of agro-based industries and exports. It will pursue them with Govt. of India, Planning Commission, Financial Institutions, Members of Parliament, Intellectuals, international organizations & others in order to develop favourable policies, obtain resources, build infrastructure and initiate other appropriate measures.

Mr. P. Chengal Reddy, President, FFA, Andhra Pradesh; Mr. Venkat Rao Nadagouda, Chairman, Karnataka Oil Fed; and Mr. Anand G Mahindra, President, Agri-Council, CII; Mr. Tarun Das, Director General, CII; Mr. Anil Kumar V. Epur, Ex-Chairman, Southern Region, CII took initiative in its establishment.

It was inaugurated on 4th December, 2002 by Mr. Basavanagouda Patil, Minister of State for Textiles, Govt. of India; Mr. C. Ramachandraiah, M.P.; Mr.. Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, M.P.; Smt. Prabha Rau, M.P.; Mr. Prithviraj Chavan, M.P.; Mr. Bikram Kesari Deo, M.P.; Dr. Venugopala Chary, M.P.; Prof. T. Haque, Chairman, Commission for Agricultural Costs & Prices; Mr. Ajay Shriram, Member, Agri-council, CII; Mr. Shankari Koppa; and many other distinguished guests from Farmers Associations, Industry and Academicians participated in inaugural function.

The committee is actively involved in identification of issues and pursuing them with different organization.
