Union Budget 2009 -2010 Demands - Farmers Associations to send delegations to Delhi to meet Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Shri. Rahul Gandhi, Union Ministers & lobby with MPs

Shri. Pranab Mukharjee, Union Finance Minister, held Pre-Budget Discussion with Farmers on 1st June, 2009 & CIFA submitted its demands (Details Enclosed and also at www.indianfarmers.org

During 2004 - 2009 UPA initiated measures by writing off loans to the farmers, credit increase, MSP increase, procurement and other initiatives.

However, there efforts did not stop farmers suicides, control migration, curtail rural unrest, create employment and help the net take home income of farmers.

The reasons are the continuation of Essential Commodities Act, restriction on Free Trade, Exports, Value Addition, Commodity Trading etc.,

The functioning of CACP, FCI, CCI requires to be reoriented. The reports of National Commission on Farmers(NCF), Arjun Sen Gupta and other needs to be implemented.

The 600 million small farmers of India demand economic equity, empowerment, reduced physical drudgery, risk mitigation, old age pension and other facilities.

CIFA request Farmers Associations to take up these issues by meeting Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Sri. Rahul Gandhi and others at Delhi and also lobby through Union Ministers & MPs.

You are requested to give wide publicity to the demands - TV, News Papers and Pamphlets.
