INDIAN FARMERS PRACTISING AGRICULTURE IN AFRICA , ASIA AND LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRIES

The Government of India has received proposal from many Countries inviting investments in Agriculture.
Shri  N.K. Das, IAS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, GOI, has convened a meeting on 5th January, 2010 with Officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Commerce  and also representatives of farmers and industry to discuss the issues. The participants suggested various issues including understanding Agro-Climatic Issues, investments and also law and order problems in these countries.
The Officials noted all the suggestions and informed the participants that they will follow it further.

Mr. P. Chengal Reddy, Secretary General Consortium of Indian Farmers Associations (CIFA) has written to Ministry of Agriculture, GOI requesting to arrange for visit by farmers groups to these countries to study the conditions.
CIFA has represented to Shri. Pranab Mukherjee, Union Finance Minister, Government of India  to provide special allocation in Union Budget 2010-2011 for this project.
