THE Federation of Indian Farmers Organisations has decided to launch a 'Shankha Nada' campaign throughout the nation, said Basavaraj Ingin, executive committee member of the federation here on Monday.
Speaking at a press conference, he said that the campaign would be inaugurated in front of the statue of Swami Vivekanan-da at Kanyakumari on March 12 and would continue in Karnata-ka from March 16. Five lakh pamphlets would be printed emphasising the demands of the farmers and distributed to the voters. The major demands include the implementation of Swaminathan Commission report, autonomy for agriculture expenditure and support price for agricultural commodities, allocate Rs 5 lakh crore for linking major rivers of the country, a separate budget for agriculture and pension for farmers crossing 60 years of age, Ingin said.
