*CONSORTIUM OF INDIAN FARMERS ASSOCIATIONS
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES >
To make all out efforts to make India , an Agricultural Economic Power.
To represent on behalf of Farm Sector, to the Government of India, the Planning Commission and other concerned authorities for formulating proper policies of Agriculture, including export import policy, taxation policies, restrictive trade policies, Agricultural Reforms and for allocation of adequate budget, based on its contribution to National GDP and also on the basis of population, relying on agriculture and allied activities. To work for providing employment security, income security and social security of all rural people as per the provisions of the Constitution.
To achieve adequate recognition to the farming community by participation of farmers in socio-economic developmental activities at all levels.
To organize and help establishing independent and vibrant commodity farmers associations / organizations at State and National Levels.
To associate with like-minded National and International organizations for improvement and upliftment of Agriculture Sector.
To create awareness amongst Indian Farmers about modern agricultural methods and about areas like biotechnology, information technology, bio-fertilizers and sustainable development.
To unite all registered and unregistered farmers associations into a cohesive, functional organization so as to create a powerful Farmers Lobby in India ..
To create awareness amongst the farming community about various schemes of agricultural and rural development of State and Central Governments and make them active partners of such schemes to disseminate information and knowledge of all such schemes by organizing workshops, seminars, conferences, training courses and through various audio visual methods.
For the realization of its objectives, the Confederation of Indian Farmers Associations either by itself or in association with other organizations, shall act as representative of Farmers and take up issues with the Central and State Governments, Financial Institutions, Public Sector Institutions like FCI, CCI, NABARD, NAFED, Agro-based Industries, Procuring Agencies, Ware – Housing Organizations and all other related institutions. In case of necessity empowered to enter into MOU on mutually agreeable terms and conditions.
To crate awareness of the key role of agriculture and valuable contribution of farmers as an important and integral component of economic and social development of the country, among policy makers , administrators, scientists, academicians, judiciary, journalists, member of organized sectors and other urban elite about the problems confronted by farmers and intricacies involved in agriculture. In case of necessity empowered to form Forums of MPs, MLAs, Experts / Professionals and others for achieving the objectives.
It will make efforts to create awareness among farmers, agriculture labour and rural artisans about their fundamental rights of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity.
To promote, pursue and assist in raising the living standards of farmers and farm labour, rural artisans and other connected with Agriculture and allied sectors in harmony with the environment.
To establish agriculture clinics and agriculture business centres to provide extension services to farmers.
To prepare feasibility project reports and rendering consultancy services for establishing farming, horticulture, animal husbandry, agro-processing Industries, exports and all other related activities. To promote dissemination of knowledge / information and technologies relevant to farming and rural development by establishing technology and information centres by itself or in association with like-minded organizations.
To disseminate and update knowledge of agriculture and its related subjects through utilization of mass-media, electronic media and other ways.
To sponsor eminent Farmers / subject and commodity experts to Seminars / Workshops / Conferences being taken up at State, National Level and International level at different places in India and in other countries with or without financial assistance.
To develop database on agricultural production, processing, marketing & exports and make it available to farmers and others through agri-information centres including marketing intelligence and future trading.
To analyse, study and take appropriate steps and deal with problems created by issues connected with patent rights and WTO Treaty related issues. To spread awareness and to educate Indian farmers about effects of World Trade Organization and Globalization and cultivate solidarity with other affected farmers, of the World, particularly of farmers of developing countries. To represent the interests of Indian Farmers at WTO forums. To propagate / opt for usage of available everlasting non-conventional energy sources like biogas, improved chulhas, Solar Gadgets, Biomass Power Projects, etc., for environmental cleanliness, to support aforestation programme, to safeguard women health and to reduce pressure on conventional energy sources.
To raise / receive and accept funds for accomplishment of aims and objectives by means of membership fee, donations. Contributions, Programmes support, etc., by way of Indian Currency and Foreign Currency from all connected Organizations for general purposes and specific purposes. In case of necessity funds shall be raised by means of unsecured hand loans to the extent necessary. To explore possibilities for global agricultural opportunities and send farmers / farm labour to other countries for practicing profitable agriculture. |
